John B. O’Sullivan
is the Curator of Field Operations, Manager of the Aquarium’s
White Shark Project and a senior collector at the Monterey Bay
Aquarium. He has been collecting marine animals and plants for
over 24 years, first at Scripps Institution of Oceanography’s
Aquarium and Marine Biology Research Division and then for the
last two decades at the Aquarium. John helped develop and test
the satellite tag insertion location on captive mola along with
Heidi Dewar back in 1999 and has been a driving force in the
tagging of mola in California. In addition to being a founding
member of the mola tag team, John conducts research on white
sharks, oceanic white-tip sharks, cookie-cutter sharks, manta
rays and mobulids.
